Mathletics
Mathletics (GESS and BETT Award winner) is a digital learning and teaching resource used by millions of students around the world. It is proven to significantly improve results and student engagement, confidence and motivation in maths.

It is already used by thousands of teachers across the Middle East. Recent independent research by the University of Oxford found that schools making regular use of Mathletics performed significantly better on a range of measures including improvement and attainment, compared to schools that did not use Mathletics.

Mathletics is leading the way in digital learning and gamification, supporting the delivery of a range of international curricula with 1,400 assignable student activities. Mathletics supports the delivery of a “mastery” maths curriculum with fully curriculum aligned activities and courses to develop core mathematical fluency, problem solving and reasoning skills.

For teachers it offers powerful differentiation, assessment and diagnostic reporting tools. Mathletics can be accessed on PCs and tablet devices both at school and at home, making it great as a classroom resource for teaching and learning and for setting homework.

Using Forms for Feedback
Feedback is an essential part of teaching and learning. Research has shown that immediate feedback is essential for procedural tasks to ensure bad habits or incorrect information is not committed to memory. While this is ideal, teachers do not always have the chance to give immediate feedback to a class or 20-30 students, so how can technology assist us? Google Forms now has a powerful quiz feature that allows teachers to build their own quizzes using a range of questions styles. We will learn how to build the form, indicate correct answers and differentiate feedback.

This will be ideal for teachers of students who use 1:1 devices in the classroom. A device with Chrome installed is required for this session.

Supporting English Language Learners with their reading proficiency
Reading comprehension and reading fluency are vital skills that are developed during a child’s school years. Many students, however, struggle with this core literacy skill, especially those who don’t use English as their mother tongue. To ensure these students don’t fall behind, education technology allows them to work independently, whilst taking ownership of their learning development, in turn boosting their confidence. This session will introduce Fluency Tutor® for Google™; a reading assessment tool designed to boost reading proficiency, which is ideal for schools using Google Apps for Education (GAFE). It helps busy teachers support struggling readers and ELL students and allows teachers to track reading progress throughout the school year.

Managing Data with Mail Merge
Have you ever wished you could export your Form data responses to a Google Doc or PDF? Well, it’s easy with a mail merge! Using a mail merge addon, we’ll work through a Google Form and Sheet to setup a mail merge to run on each form submission. The product of the mail merge will be a PDF or Google Doc formatted to your liking with the form responses collated as per your design.

This is an ideal session for administration staff or teachers who work with collecting data through forms – for example collecting medical information for a field trip – and want to automate the process to reduce the time they spend working on manual tasks. A great time saver! A device with Chrome installed is required for this session.

Social Media In the Digital Age
Social media is shaping our collective consciousness through sharing of media and personal information. In one sense this has brought the world to our fingertips with knowledge accessibility but also created corollary problems such as cyberbullying, plagiarism and not being able distinguish website credibility.
In this workshop, we'll analyze data on adolescent behavior with regards to social media such as brain neuroplasticity, graphic organizers for deciphering truth in media and implications for teachers in a web-based environment.
